As you know, I eat several small meals every day. And for late lunch I’ve recently been making wraps on lavash bread. Tasty, high-fiber, and low-calorie – lavash is soft and perfect for wraps.
I try to eat fish a lot since it is so good for you, and if I had my way I’d have a tuna wrap every afternoon. However, eating tuna every day isn’t good for you due to mercury levels, so I alternate with salmon. Also delicious and also really good for you!
Instead of oily tuna cans, I get my tuna and salmon in pouches. It’s always fresh, and they’re mess-free too.
Starkist Tuna Creations in the Ranch flavor is my fave, but the other flavors are good as well. (Some are even spicy!) They also have chicken varieties.
And for salmon, I buy Chicken of the Sea’s Alaskan Pink Salmon pouches. I find that I need to add salt to the salmon to really bring out the flavor…
Either way you go, I think these wraps taste great with some sugar-free sweet relish on top. It’s crunchy and contrasts well with the savory fish. Let me know what you think!
Low Calorie Tuna and Salmon Lunch Wraps
Ingredients
- ½ piece Lavash bread
- 1 pouch tuna or salmon (any flavor that appeals to you)
- 2 TB sugar free sweet relish (I like Mt. Olive or Vlasic)
- 1 TB yellow mustard (optional)
- pepper (to taste)
For the salmon only
- scant ¼ tsp salt
Instructions
- Put the tuna or salmon in a small bowl and add the remaining ingredients. Mix with a fork until well combined.
- Spread on the lavash bread.
- Gently but as tightly as you can, roll up the wrap. I serve it in a bowl instead of on a plate because I find a bowl catches the drips better. But you do you.
